Minimally Invasive Implantology

Bone Augmentation

As part of implant and periodontal treatment, we use surgical techniques to build up the jawbone (jaw augmentation). In some cases, the jawbone shrinks more significantly after tooth loss (jaw atrophy). This can be influenced by the following causes: - prolonged toothlessness - genetic predisposition - general factors (certain medications, smoking, osteoporosis) - pronounced prior inflammation of the tooth socket or root (cysts, periodontitis) - the location of the tooth loss To be able to place a dental implant in the jaw, in some cases we first need to build up the jawbone. Various minimally invasive techniques are used here to keep the surgical wound small and to keep pain and swelling after the operation as low as possible. What all these procedures have in common is that we introduce bone substitute material into the affected toothless region. This material is converted into the body's own bone during the healing phase. This increases bone volume and allows the implant to be placed stably.
