Adult Orthodontics
Orthodontic treatment is no longer a question of age. More and more adults choose to have crooked or crowded teeth corrected even after jaw growth has finished — whether for aesthetic reasons, or because a misalignment has become more pronounced over the years.
Ellen Kappel, MSc., our orthodontics specialist, on the subject:
Unlike in childhood, treatment in adults no longer focuses on guiding jaw growth, but on precisely moving individual teeth. Today's options are far more discreet than they were just a few years ago: from fixed braces to lingual brackets on the inside of the teeth to clear aligners such as Invisalign, which are barely noticeable in everyday life.
Every treatment begins with thorough diagnostics — X-rays, photographs and a digital scan of your teeth show us the exact starting situation. Based on this, we draw up an individual treatment plan and discuss with you which system best suits your misalignment and how discreet you'd like the treatment to be.
Orthodontic pre-treatment can also make sense alongside other dental treatments — for example before planned dentures or in combination with implants — to bring the teeth into the ideal position for the later restoration.
