A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that heals firmly into the jawbone and securely supports a crown, bridge or denture. Whether a single gap, several missing teeth or a toothless jaw: implants allow fixed restorations without grinding down healthy neighbouring teeth, and they help preserve the jawbone.
Together with our master dental technician team, the dentists at Dres. Kappel & Partner have more than 20 years of experience and have placed over 10,000 implants. Patients come to our practice on Betckestraße in Berlin-Spandau from all over Berlin and the surrounding area.
Why implants at Kappel & Partner?
Master of Science in Implantology
Dr. Ingmar L. Kappel holds the university degree Master of Science in Oral Surgery and Implantology, and implantology is his main area of practice.
Microscope-guided and minimally invasive
We place implants under the dental microscope using the "keyhole surgery" principle, with a piezosurgical ultrasound device instead of conventional drills and with a surgical guide. More under Minimally Invasive: The Concept.
Straumann implants
We use implants from the Swiss manufacturer Straumann®, one of the most extensively scientifically documented implant systems.
3D X-ray (CBCT)
With our own CBCT scanner we view the jawbone, nerves and sinus in three dimensions, right here in our practice. This lets us plan the position and length of each implant to the millimetre before surgery.
3D scan instead of impressions
We capture your teeth digitally with an intraoral scanner, without impression trays or impression material. The data goes straight to our master laboratory.
Everything from one source
Planning, implantation and restoration are closely coordinated with our master laboratory, from the first consultation to the finished crown.
Even with little bone
If the jawbone has receded, it can often be rebuilt beforehand or at the same time. More under bone augmentation.
Nitrous oxide instead of general anaesthesia
We deliberately use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) rather than general anaesthesia, which strains the circulation, carries its own risks and requires a longer recovery. With nitrous oxide you remain responsive but noticeably more relaxed, and the effect wears off quickly after treatment.
How does implant treatment work?
- 1
Consultation and diagnostics
We examine teeth, gums and jawbone, with 3D X-ray (CBCT) where needed, and discuss your options and the costs.
- 2
Planning
We plan the implant position and the final restoration together with the dental technician.
- 3
Implantation
The procedure is performed as an outpatient treatment in our practice under local anaesthesia, and on request with nitrous oxide for extra relaxation.
- 4
Healing
Over several months the implant fuses firmly with the bone (osseointegration).
- 5
Restoration
The final restoration from our master laboratory is then fitted.
How long do dental implants last?
According to the German Society of Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine (DGZMK), the survival rate of dental implants after 10 years is up to 97%. Good oral hygiene, regular check-ups and professional teeth cleaning are key. More under implant care.
