A beautiful smile should look natural, last a long time and preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible. Modern aesthetic dentistry therefore combines three things: careful planning on the computer, metal-free materials such as all-ceramic, and treatments that are as gentle as possible. As members of the German Society of Aesthetic Dentistry (DGÄZ), and together with our long-standing master lab, we accompany you in Berlin-Spandau from the first idea to the finished result.

What aesthetic dentistry can do

  • whiten discoloured or dark teeth
  • replace old, visible metal margins or dark fillings with tooth-coloured ceramic
  • reshape chipped, worn or uneven teeth
  • close small gaps and straighten crooked teeth
  • replace missing teeth with a natural look, including on implants

As gentle as possible

The principle followed internationally today is: start with the simplest option, then intervene only as much as necessary. Often a professional teeth cleaning, whitening or discreet alignment with Invisalign is enough before ceramic is even considered. Where ceramic makes sense, we prefer solutions that keep a lot of your own tooth, such as veneers or partial crowns instead of a full crown. The ceramic is firmly bonded to the tooth (adhesive bonding).

Digital dentistry: from scan to ceramic

Intraoral scan instead of impressions

A small handheld scanner captures your teeth optically in 3D. No impression putty, no gagging and no X-rays.

Planning on the computer

The shape and proportions of the new teeth are designed digitally (CAD). This lets us discuss the goal in advance, and a wax-up model shows the result before anything is changed on the tooth.

Precisely milled

The restoration is milled from an industrially manufactured ceramic block (CAM), which makes the material particularly uniform and accurate.

In one visit with CEREC

We make inlays, partial crowns and many crowns directly in the practice, without a temporary and without a second appointment. More under CEREC.

For complex restorations the scan data goes straight to our master lab. There the dental technicians refine shade, surface and translucency by hand so that the ceramic blends in with the neighbouring teeth. For implants we add a 3D X-ray (DVT/CBCT) to the planning.

All-ceramic: metal-free and natural

Natural enamel is slightly translucent. Ceramic imitates this effect of light, whereas porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns can show a grey shimmer at the gum line. All-ceramic is also very well tolerated, conducts neither heat nor electricity and attracts little plaque. Depending on the tooth and the load, we choose the right material:

Glass ceramic

particularly translucent and natural, ideal for veneers, inlays, partial crowns and front-tooth crowns.

Zirconia

extremely strong, for crowns and bridges on back teeth and on implants. More under all-ceramic restorations.

Your path to a new smile

  1. 1

    Consultation and analysis

We discuss your wishes, examine teeth, gums and bite, and determine your individual tooth shade.

  2. 2

    Scan and planning

We scan your teeth and plan the result digitally, together with the dental technician where needed.

  3. 3

    Preparatory treatment

Healthy gums are the foundation of any aesthetics. If necessary, we first treat decay or periodontitis. If you would like lighter teeth, we whiten before the ceramic work, because ceramic and fillings cannot be whitened afterwards.

  4. 4

    Placement

The ceramic is placed gently and bonded firmly to the tooth. We keep an eye on bite and jaw joint, with a jaw joint measurement if needed.

  5. 5

    Care

With good oral hygiene and regular professional cleaning, the result stays beautiful for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Is the scan unpleasant? No. The scanner is simply guided over the teeth. There is no impression putty in your mouth and no radiation.

How long does all-ceramic last? With good care and regular check-ups, many years. Thorough oral hygiene matters, as does a night guard if you grind your teeth.

What does health insurance cover? For crowns and bridges, German statutory health insurance pays a fixed subsidy based on the findings. All-ceramic solutions usually involve additional costs. Whitening and veneers are purely aesthetic treatments and are billed privately. Before any treatment you receive a written cost estimate.
